Hesed HouseHappy New Year, St. Paul families!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our weekend serving event at Hesed House, whether it was through purchasing items, donating money, or with your prayers. The Hesed House guests who assisted with the delivery of our items were very appreciative. The Reuland’s shredded chicken sandwiches were well-received, too. Our next event at Hesed House will be April 10th and 11th. We look forward to partnering with you again. Thank you! Louise DeWig, Buffy Stevens, Lucy Silva, & Trisha Knaub Matthew 25:35, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. Vs 40 "... I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
We are so excited that St. Paul Lutheran is on a regular schedule to serve at Hesed House! |
There are many different ways in which everyone can be involved in this ministry.
First, pray! Pray for the broken hearted -- for the hurts of those whose only alternative for emergency shelter is to come to Hesed House. Pray for resolution in their lives. Pray that God's love will be shown through the food donations, through the hands that prepare the food, through the kind words, friendly smiles and service of those who volunteer to serve at Hesed House. Pray that volunteers will recognize when the time is right and give them the right words to share the gospel as a light of hope to those who have come to stay there. Pray that our congregation along with the 70 other area churches and other organizations which serve there will be blessed to accomplish their commitments.
Second, you may donate some of the food needed for the 200 dinners, 100 sack lunches for those who work or go to school and the 175 breakfasts needed for the commitment dates. We rely heavily on food donations, and also accept monetary donations to the St. Paul Hesed House Ministry.
Third, please consider volunteering to serve if you are able -- whether it is actually working at Hesed House on our commitment dates, menu planning, food purchasing, whether it is helping to prepare certain foods ahead of time at our church or at home, or helping to transport the food to Hesed House.
