Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27 ESV)
The spiritually healthy church has at its heart two responses, to love God and to love other human beings (in our congregations and in our communities). When either of these responses decline, there is a reason—our sinful, self-focused, self-reliant selves. But as in all things—God provides the answer, antidote, remedy and healing for our hearts to function as He designed!
Paul in his letter to the Ephesians reminds our hearts, minds, and souls on all that our Heavenly Father did for us in sending His Son to save us…of His grace…of the power He has given us in His Holy Spirit…and the tangibly healthy ways in which we can love our neighbor. In these ways, by the power of His Word and Spirit, we can be the spiritually health church He has called us to be in reaching our world with the love of Jesus!
