Thanksgiving Food Drive
St. Paul will be participating once again this year in a food drive which will benefit families within and outside of our church who are struggling.
How can you participate?
You may bring non-perishable food, toiletries, diapers and baby food to services the first four weekends of November. There will be a collection drop off point in the church atrium. A list of suggested items is below. Thank you for checking to be sure items are not past their expiration date.
You may make a monetary donation toward the purchase of turkeys. Our goal is that each family receiving a box of food will also receivable a turkey certificate, redeemable for a turkey at Montgomery Market. Please turn your donation into the church office, marked with "Food Drive". Checks may be made out to St. Paul Lutheran Church. St Paul also supplies the turkeys for the Thanksgiving meal at Hesed House, Centennial House, and contribute some to Constitution House, Lifespring and Mutual Ground.
Volunteers are needed to ask for food and monetary donations in shifts outside of Priscos Fine Foods on November 8, and at Montgomery Market on November 8, 15 and 22, Volunteers are also needed to pick up the food donations from these places, as well as sort and pack food on Saturday, November 22. Sign up sheets are in the Ministry Opportunities Book at the Welcome Center under the Food Drive tab.
Food boxes will be available for pick up at the new building the Sunday before Thanksgiving after services. Delivery is available for those who cannot pick up their boxes.
If you know of a family which could benefit from having a box of food or if your family could benefit from a box of food, please fill out a Food Drive Referral Form found at the Welcome Center. Referrals will be kept confidential. Please turn in referral forms to Scott Pfister or the church office in an envelope marked Food Drive Referral.
Excess food collected will be used to backfill the Parish Nurse pantry at church and then donated to local food pantries.
